Meeting: London Film and Comic Con Nov 2004

It will forever be known as the time I met David and the guys and was the best convention experience I have ever had. I don't think I could have ever dreamed up things going so well and I do a lot of dreaming.

My first adventure was meeting Joe Flannigan and for me it was all rather strange. When we got into Joes queue I was shaking like anything and just being a general busybody (Its how I get when I'm nervous). I was balancing bits of my stuff under my arm in my mouth wherever to get myself sorted. Being the nervous shaking leaf I was I then found it completely hard to choose the picture that I wanted to get signed. I don't know why but It was really strange seeing them in reality in front of you especially when you had only seen them on tv the other night. Anyhow chose a picture after swapping over several times and made it to the front of the queue. I introduced myself to Joe and he to me as if I didn't know. Then the strangest thing happened instead of me walking away and saying nothing Joe spoke to me. 'I love your t-shirt' he said (I was wearing an SG1 one I had made) 'Do you mind if I sign it?' he asked. Now if you had been there I'm sure you too would have found it very hard to resist such a kind and gentle man (not to mention gorgeous). So I said yes he instructed to pull out my t-shirt and he began writing on it 'WATCH ATLANTIS' and then he signed his name. He sat back to look at his creation and I commented on how origional it was. He told me I should deliver the message to Chris who was also at the con and I agreed. We posed for a picture and I thanked for his time still shaking like a leaf I left a smile right up to my ears.

Next I went to meet Chris as ordered to deliver the message from Joe. It was a rather short meeting but the message from Joe had certainly brought a smile to both of our faces.

Finally the moment I had been waiting for meeting David, we joined his queue whilst he was still in the Atlantis talk and waited. Before long he had returned to the table and the queue was moving again, this time I felt a tad nervous in the pit of my stomach but no more than usual. I could hear his jokes whilst standing in the queue and we were all laughing and smiling. It was a really chilling atmosphere so when I came to the front of the queue I was still chilled. David introduced himself as did I and this time I started talking to him. He asked me what color he should sign my autograph and I said why not go multicolored. He acted out grabbing all the pens in his hand and pretending to sign an autograph. We agreed that would certainly make for an interesting autograph. He signed my autograph and found himself looking at my tshirt. I explained what Joe had said and David asked ' Do you mind if I sign it too? I don't want to ruin it' . Again I didn't refuse and mumbled something about needing to get an Atlantis one anyway. I was laughing slightly cos it was ticklish and David was going to me 'hold it taunt' in a high squeaky voice which just made me laugh even more. Then he said he was starting to sound like a Muffin and of course I laughed even more what with it being my username and everything. We came to our photo moment and I was still laughing as David was laying his head on my shoulder. I was nearly in hysterics as we said our goodbyes and again with a smile up to my ears I'm so glad I came to meet the guys they were so genuine and made me feel really comfortable so big hugs to them!

Meeting: ADB Screening Feb 2007

The excitement can first really begin when I start meeting up with the others and rolling into Heathrow. It is early afternoon and after an early check in before waiting for the rest of our group we head out on the tubes to our screening. Just over an hour later we are uptop trying to work out which direction given that the only landmark we knew was forbidden planet and we couldn't see that. After asking for directions we knew we were headed in the right direction when we see the squirrels queuing up eagerly outside for the 4pm showing.

I quickly join the end and wait for the 4pm showing to head in reading for our showing at 6pm. We see a few familiar faces SueKay, Shelsfc and Ninja and sign the posters and things before the 4pm queue moves in. I proudly make the beginning of the 6pm queue by plonking myself down at the front. It was then when we saw David and Jane for the first time through the doors. They see us sitting there and wave before heading in to screening number one.

As the time passes more people join our queue, the light fades and unfortunately the temperature drops. But that doesn't stop us, I have stayed in the same position all afternoon and am every so often counting down and recording the atmosphere on a video diary. As the time draws closer we become aware that the 4pm showing has finished, they have left through the back entrance and are making their way round to the front as chaos begins to ensue we are let into the screening. The others want to sit a few rows back but I declare that I am wanting to sit on the front row after sitting out there. Jane is meeting and greeting people as they walk in the door smiling sweetly as always and David is talking to his VIP guests as the screening begins to fill up. We chat excitedly amongst ourselves until Jane and John step forward to introduce everyone to Kate and David. They then gave a brief introduction of the movie when David got out his camcorder before all cameras went away fro lights down and the movie to start.

No need to cover your eyes there are no spoilers to follow just my honest opinion on the movie. I personally was howling with laughter the whole time along with much of the audience. There was such a great atmosphere at the screening everyone looking round to grin at one another everyone noticing something new to laugh at. There was something for everyone. They say laughing is good for you, then I'd say watch ADB you'll add years to your life! As the film ended and the credits began rolling the room filled with cheers for all of its stars and excited chatter about peoples personal best bits.

Once things had quietened down the gang returned to the front giving us just over 30 mins for question and answers. They all looked relieved that the movie had gone down well, but lets face it what's not to like. They went straight into the questions all sorts coming up especially those concerning the Starcrossed TV series and how soon the DVD release of the movie would be. David was also asked about his comedic influences as someone said he reminded them of Mr Bean in the movie.

The whole time on the tube down we had been discussing the subject of questions which 'apparently' I would be too chicken to ask. But when a question came to me there was a moments debate in my my mind from the nervous side and the go for it side won. I stuck my hand up half heartedly secretly hoping not to be picked but being on the front row I was immediately spotted by David. He pointed me out and the others turned to look at me, somehow what followed did actually resemble speech. I don't like talking infront of crowds... but I asked ' What was your favourite scene in the film or the one that you were most pleased with?. 'For me or for everyone?' , David replied and I went for everyone. Cue everyone speaking to me as they answered my question. I knew there was a reason why I don't normally ask I didn't know how to look or how to sit. David answered last with what I'm sure was just as great a scene for all of us as well. David mentioned the weekend and we all chimed up shouting yes that we would be there. There was a lot of hyperness amongst the sickness from David and general tiredness from us but the movie and the questions seemed to go down really well. Nicely David offered to sign a few autographs for those who weren't going to the convention at the weekend which was really sweet as he was looking a little tired.

The rest of us headed out of the cinema and were unleashed onto the streets of London and more specifically covent garden pizza hut!
